Urban Village’s Catherine Chan Received “Hong Kong Golden Bauhinia Women Entrepreneur Award” in 2020

The Founder and Executive Director of Urban Village, Catherine Chan, had been officially awarded the “Golden Bauhinia Women Entrepreneurs Award 2020” last Saturday by a Hong Kong-based Association founded by women entrepreneurs.

The Golden Bauhinia Women Entrepreneur Association is the first chamber of trade both founded and ran by senior female executives and entrepreneurs in Hong Kong whose mission is to protect the city’s business environment and assure their recognition in public.

The Association also assists its members in building up their business networks locally and in greater China by acting as a communicator between the government and its members including advising the government on policies and organizing workshops to share the latest changes and trends in the business among the members.

Speaking before the crowd during the award reception, Ms. Catherine expressed her gratefulness for the recognition and added that it has encouraged and motivated her to strive more.

“As a female entrepreneur in the new era, I always believe that efforts and gains are proportional, and giving up lightly is the behavior of the weak. Ten years ago, under the age of 30, I decided to leave my comfort zone in Hong Kong and ventured into Cambodia. I started from scratch, learning the local culture, in-depth study of people’s livelihood and economic development,” Ms Catherine said.

Ms. Catherine is one of the youngest and most successful female real estate developers in Asia. She is behind Cambodia’s most famous condominium project, Urban Village, 3-time winner of Best Condo Development in Asia and Cambodia and Factory Phnom Penh, the largest creative hub in Southeast Asia.

“In the future, I will carry forward the spirit of Hong Kong businesswomen to inspire others, discipline myself and respect others, and make more contributions to national development, society and talent cultivation, and let the world see the unique charm of Hong Kong female entrepreneurs,” she said.
